Charles Edwin Collins, 76, of Hamilton, passed away at 9:10 AM Friday morning, January 27, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
Charles was born January 23, 1947, the son of Forest Edwin and Margaret (Griffin) Collins in Hannibal, Missouri. On May 31, 1965, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1969 as a Sargent. On August 9, 1968, he was united in marriage to Patricia Artko in Fairfax, Virginia. Charles was a truck driver and also a driving instructor at Southeastern Community College for many years. He enjoyed spending time on Facebook talking to his many friends, bowling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hamilton where he served as a Deacon.
Charles is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Hamilton; daughters, Deanne (Andy) Enderle of Keokuk and Teri (Charles) West of Quincy; a daughter-in-law, Ann Kalis of Ursa; granddaughters, Ashley (Nick) Smith, Breanne Larsen, Celsey West, Kourtney (Holli) Baldwin, Raegan (Bennett) McDonald, Morgan (Chris) Stanfield, Kurt Kalis, Nikolas Kalis and Jacob Kalis; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dawn Collins-Weston; and a sister, Mary Mitchell.
A memorial service with Military Rites will be held at the First Christian Church in Hamilton on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at the Quincy Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church in Hamilton.
