Melissa K. Steffen Hobbs

1958-2022

 

     Melissa K. Steffen Hobbs, 64 of Fort Madison, IA died Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

     She was born on April 22, 1958 in Ft. Madison, IA, the daughter of Elmo Wayne and Lois Irene Barnes Steffen.  She graduated from Central Lee High School in Donnellson with the Class of 1976. In 1994, she received her Health Sciences Administration Degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL.   In 2009, Melissa received her Nursing Degree from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

     She had been employed as a Home Health Nurse.

     Melissa enjoyed baking, music and singing.  She also had a great love for all animals. Most of all, Melissa loved spending time with her family and making memories that will last forever.

     She is survived by her husband, Scott Wynn Hobbs of Ft. Madison, IA, two daughters, Andrea Hobbs Nixon (Pete) of Columbia Station, OH and Sarah Hobbs Wagner (Jeremy) of Ozark, MO, one son, Matt Hobbs of Mediapolis, IA and two granddaughters, Maddilynn Hobbs and Audrey Nixon. She is also survived by one sister, Nora Hill (Steve) of Danville, IA and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John Steffen, Bernie Steffen and Rick Steffen and one sister, Nancy Osborn.

     A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

     Memorials may be made to The Greater Iowa Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association.

     The Vigen Memorial is assisting the family with arrangements.
