Joy L. Patrick

Joy L. Patrick, 86, of Carthage, passed away at 10:36 AM Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Macomb Post-Acute Care Center surrounded by her family.

 

Joy was born May 29, 1936, the daughter of James L. and Juanita (Gates) Feagans in Morrison, Illinois.  She graduated from Carthage High School and then went on to receive her LPN from SECC in Burlington, Iowa.  On September 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to W. Gene Patrick in Carthage.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  She worked at the Keokuk Area Hospital from 1970 until her retirement in 1998, when she retired to travel with Gene in their semi.  She was awarded the Keokuk Area Hospital’s employee of the year in 1998.  Gene was the love of her life and her best friend and had many wonderful memories from their nine years of traveling together in the truck.  After Gene’s death she worked at KAME in Keokuk from 2007 until 2013 and she also assisted many new widows in getting through their grief.  She had attended First Baptist Church in Carthage for many years and had been an active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Keokuk.  

 

Joy is survived by her children, Michael Patrick of Camden, Julie (Kenny) Huling of Carthage, Kim (Alan) Brown of Miles City, Montana and Jeff (Leah) Patrick of Carthage; grandchildren, Kenton Patrick, Krista (Dustin) Finch, Matthew Huling, Lucas (Katy) Huling, Penny Huling, Mark (Meghan) Brown, Casey (Darren) Reid, Jalisa (Jamie) Fuller and Jordan (Tia) Patrick; great grandchildren, Addison Kay Patrick, Emerson Lynn Patrick, Grayson Michelle Patrick, Willis Gene Patrick, Zoe Kay Finch, Griffin Lozelle Finch and Nora June Finch, Ambria Lou Huling Austin Eugene Huling, Everly Mae Huling, Ford Kenneth Roger Huling, Parker Grace Huling and Ty Jacob Huling, Ellie Paige Brown, Greta Lyn Brown, Audrey Grace Brown, Moira Nicole Reid and Eimear Mae Reid, James Dean Fuller, Jaylee Jo Fuller, Jager James Fuller, Journee Marie Fuller, Jaydyn Nicole Patrick, Jaxon Gene Patrick and Oaklee Jo Patrick; one brother, David Feagans of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Gene, in 2007;  and two daughters-in-law.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 7, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 11:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  Memorials may be directed to the Wanita Patrick Scholarship Fund at Illini West High School in Carthage.
