Robert James McKay, 58, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. 

Robert was born July 22, 1964, in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Robert Elmer and Wanda L. (Hale) McKay. He attended Carthage High School graduating in 1982. On August 2, 2014, he was united in marriage to Janet Garrett in Peoria, IL. She survives. Robert was previously married to Kelly Meier and later Stacy Rippenkroeger. Robert had worked for Supreme Swine Nutrition for almost 3 decades. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Rob had a servants heart to help others and was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Keokuk. 

Robert is survived by his wife, Janet, of Carthage; children, Jennifer (Jared) Andrews of Plum City, WI, Kaleigh McKay of Keokuk, Dawson (Kalli) McKay of Bondurant, IA, Emilee McKay of Keokuk, Zach (Mary) Alesandrini of Madison, WI, Natosha Russso of Pekin, IL, Jacob (Ciara) Hall of Pekin, IL, Carrie (Zach) Welch of Waynesville, IL and Christian (Calen) Hall of Salem, Mo; ten grandchildren; his mother, Wanda McKay of Keokuk and two sisters, Michelle (Larry) Foulk of Carthage and Sara (Jeff) Appleman of West Salem, WI. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert McKay; and a grandson, Michael. 

Funeral services will be held at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until time of services at 6:00 at the funeral home.
