Virginia “Ginger” Arrowood Lefler

1935-2022

 

     Virginia “Ginger” Arrowood Lefler, 86, of Montrose, IA died Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at her home.

     She was born August 26, 1935 in East Peoria, IL the daughter of Herman C. and Mae Largent Arrowood. 

     On January 24, 1954 Virginia was united in marriage to John Lefler in Sunnyland, IL.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 2003.

     Virginia was a faithful member of Living Waters Church in Keokuk.

     She enjoyed going to flea markets, sewing and keeping her mind sharp by working puzzles.  Virginia was a devoted member of her church and actively participated in church activities.  Above all else, Virginia treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

     She is survived by six children, Michael H. Lefler (Margaret) of Hamilton, IL, Steven E. Lefler (Geni) CA, Brenda E. Lefler (Howard) of Keokuk, Beverly L. Brotherton (Jerry) of Montrose, IA, Deborah K. Richardson (Brian) of Wayland, MO and John G. Lefler, Jr. (Beverly) of Burlington, IA, twenty-five grandchildren, seventy-one great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother, David Arrowood (Margaret) of Payson, IL.

     Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, one great-granddaughter, Saraphina and one great-grandson, Landon.

     A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at her home, 3095 Mississippi River Road, Montrose, IA with Pastor Larry Wallingford officiating.  Food and fellowship will follow.  

     Memorials may be made to Lee County Hospice or Living Waters Assembly of God.
