Doris Kathryn McElroy, 96, of Sutter, passed away early Thursday morning, August 11, 2022, at the Golden Good Shepherd Home.
Doris was born August 31, 1925, in Walker Township, the daughter of William Joseph and Ida F. (Wollbrink) Altheide. She attended the rural Star School near Tioga and had worked at Fuller’s Grocery Store in Tioga during the 1950’s. On June 5, 1973, she was united in marriage to Donald Wayne McElroy in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2007. Doris was a lifelong member of the Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga where she served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Women’s Fellowship committee. Doris was a farmwife that was a great cook and gardener and enjoyed needlework.
Doris is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Chuck and Sharon Ruffcorn of Quincy and Wayne and Janet Spory of Sutter; grand nieces and nephews, Nathan (Abby) Ruffcorn, Eric (Sarah) Ruffcorn and Mark (Lindsey) Ruffcorn, Faith (Tanner) Clevenger and Ryan Spory; and great nieces and nephews, Adeline and Audrey Ruffcorn, Chaelen and Rinley Ruffcorn, Madeleine and Sophia Ruffcorn and Eleanor Clevenger.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Funeral services will be held at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday evening with family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw. Memorials may be directed to the Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga. Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of arrangements
