Judy Ann Martens

1943-2022

 

     Judy Ann Martens, 78 of Keokuk, IA died Monday, July 18, 2022 at her home. 

     She was born October 23, 1943 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of William Edward and Roberta Ann Hedden Ferguson.  She graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1963.

     On October 5, 1963 she was united in marriage to Roger Dean Martens in Keokuk.  He survives.

     Other survivors include one son, Joseph “Joe” Dean Martens, Sr. (Kim Bricker) of Keokuk, three grandchildren, Steph Riddle (Matt), Joey Martens (Amber) and T.J. Martens and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Riddle, Grayson Riddle and Wyatt Martens.  She is also survived by one brother, Bill Ferguson (Mary Ellen) of Quincy, IL and one sister, Carol Miller (Ray) of Keokuk and many nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, her grandparents, one sister-in-law, five brothers-in-law and several aunts and uncles.

     Judy had been employed at Spurgeons, Lexington Square and then retired from Walmart after seventeen years of employment.

     She was a faithful member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk.  She participated in the New Testament Women’s Group for many years also helped prepare funeral dinners.

     Judy enjoyed bird watching, embroidery, and playing the organ.  She also enjoyed bowling, watching Iowa Hawkeye football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.  She loved traveling on church trips and to her grandchildren’s sports activities.

     A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022 at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk with Pastor Derek Olsen officiating. 

     Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022 at the church with family meeting with friends at that time.

     Memorials may be made to the New Testament Christian Church or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
