Kenneth LaVern “Kenney” Soper, Sr.

1946-2022

 

     Kenneth LaVern “Kenney” Soper, Sr., 75 of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home. 

     He was born October 12, 1946 in Kahoka, MO the son of John Norman and Hazel McDonald Soper. 

     On December 22, 1973 Kenney was united in marriage to Carolyn Wheatley in Kahoka, MO.  She survives.

     Other survivors include two daughters, Shawna M. Graves (Shon) of Keokuk and Dalean G. Soper of Keokuk, one son, Kenneth L. Soper, Jr. of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Kurtis L. Soper (Alicia) of Keokuk, A’Kaysion Y. Soper of Columbia, MO, KeyShawn I. White (Jaelyn) of Keokuk and Karter L. Soper of Keokuk, three great-grandchildren, Baylor Craine of Keokuk, XZayvien K. Soper of Columbia, MO and Zaelei M. White of Keokuk.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Charlie Stevenson, five brothers and several nieces and nephews.

     Kenney had been employed by several different manufacturers through the years including Wagner Solutions and Sheller Globe and had also worked as a truck driver. 

     Kenney enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, working on trucks, tinkering around the house and watching sports on television.  Above all else, Kenney loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

     A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2022 in the Meierotto shelter house at Victory Park in Keokuk.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
