Helen Alice LaBonte, 90, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at her home. 

 

Helen was born on January 6, 1932, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Alice Clara (Stephenson) Bowen. On June 30, 1979, she was united in marriage to John L. LaBonte at the Methodist Church in Warsaw, Illinois. He survives. 

 

Helen was employed as a CNA at Graham and St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Keokuk. She was well-known in the community. All that knew Helen, loved her. She was always there to be a helping hand and would do anything for anybody. Helen thoroughly enjoyed reading and doing puzzle books. She was also a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. 

 

Helen is survived by her husband John of Warsaw; two daughters: Sandy Johnson of Keokuk, Iowa and Cheryl Johnson of Warsaw; two sons: Bill (Sherry) Johnson of Keokuk, Iowa, and Joe (Rose) Johnson of Bloomfield, Iowa; one step-son: Scott (Barb) LaBonte of Santa Rosa, California; two step-daughters: Ellen LaBonte of Yuma, Arizona, and Nancy (Ken) Rose of Buena Vista, Colorado; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, son Johnny and six siblings: Ruth Householder, Alfred Bowen, Harold Bowen, Henry Bowen, Ruth Youmar and Sylvia Swarington.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, Illinois with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM.
