Calvin William Baumann

Calvin William Baumann, 75, of Basco, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

 

Calvin was born the youngest of four sons on May 16, 1946, to Karl and Laura (Wemhaner) Baumann in Quincy, Illinois.  He attended Warsaw High School graduating in 1964 and then went on to attain his Agricultural Mechanization Degree from Western Illinois University in 1968.  On March 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Patty Bolt, at the Sutter Salem Bible Church in Sutter.  He served in the United States Army in 1969 and was stationed at the Army Security Agency in Arlington, Virginia where he received his Honorable Discharge.  Calvin was a lifelong farmer planting his first field of corn as a seventh grader.  He loved to farm and had no plans to retire.  He also followed in his father’s footsteps and had his own painting business for many years. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors.  He was a lifelong member of the Sutter Salem Bible Church serving in all capacities in the church and was presently an Elder.  He was also serving as president of the Gideon’s International Hancock County.  Calvin was an active community member as well, serving many years on the Warsaw School Board, Walker Township Board and Western Illinois Electric Cooperative.  His faith in Christ was most important to him.  He accepted the Lord as a young man in Vacation Bible School and continued to faithfully serve the Lord the remainder of his life.

 

Calvin is survived by his wife, Patty, of Basco; children, Stephanie (Conrad) Thompson of Andrews, Indiana, Scott (Allison) Baumann of Sutter and Steve Baumann of Chicago; grandchildren, Caleb (Kelsey), Olivia, Claire and Calvin Thompson, Kayla, Kassie, Kyle (Abi), Kami and Kole Baumann; his first great grandchild is expected in the fall; two brothers, Robert Baumann of Blandinsville and Richard Baumann of Columbia, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Judy Baumann of Dunlap, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Baumann.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the Sutter Salem Bible Church near Sutter with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw with family meeting friends from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.  Memorials may be directed to the Sutter Salem Bible Church, Gideon’s International Hancock County or Tri-State Family Services in Carthage.  Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
