Ronald Lee Schulz, 69, of Carthage, passed away at 3:11 PM Sunday, March 13, 2022, at The Loft Rehabilitation Center in Canton, Illinois.

Ron was born March 1, 1953, in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Paul W.W. and Irene E. (Hobart) Schulz.  He graduated from Carthage High School in 1971 and went on to receive his A.A. in Accounting from Robert Morris College.  He worked in the Schulz Tax and Accounting family business over 40 years retiring in 2012.  Having an insurance license, he then began working for Harmony Mutual Insurance from 2012 until his retirement in July of 2018.  He then worked for Wal-Mart for a short time before his illness.  Ron had an active mind and pursued many varied interests and hobbies.  He was a member of the bowling league for over 20 years and also played in and organized the Carthage Golf Club Men’s league for many years.  He was an active member of the Lutheran Church and became a Synodical Authorized Minister in 2006.  He built computers, enjoyed photography and learned to play the guitar.  In his younger years he enjoyed stamp collecting.  Ron was an animal lover and helped with the Hearts of Hancock Humane Society and My Matthews House and lately enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels.  He especially enjoyed activities with his grandchildren.  

Ron is survived by his wife, Susie, of Carthage; three children, Joshua and Jeremy of Des Moines, and Jennifer (Cory) Clostermery of Carthage; three grandchildren, Caitlin, Jacob and Cara Clostermery; and two brothers, Loren (Connie) Schulz of Carthage and Donald (Rachel) Schulz of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a niece in infancy, Deanna.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 18, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.  Memorials may be directed to the family of Ronald L. Schulz and will be used for the Ministerial Alliance and Hearts of Hancock Humane Society.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
