Cynthia Sue “Cindi” Melvin, 73, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Hickory Grove Assisted living in Carthage.

Cindi was born on September 21, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of John F. and Millie (Elting) Scott. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1966, and later received an associate degree in early childhood education.

Growing up Cindi spent many summer days skiing behind the boat from their cabin in Sycamore Haven all the way to Kentucky Lakes.  Anytime she couldn't be on water she was in roller skates at the Crystal Ball Roller Rink that her parents had built.

Cindi was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, the Carthage VFW and the Eagles club. Cindi held many jobs in her life including Methode Electronics, Pact Head Start and driving a school bus for the Warsaw and Illini West school districts, which she absolutely loved. Cindi often referred to herself as a jack of all trades master of none.  She also taught baton twirling, was a Brownie leader, seamstress, dog groomer, bartender, co-owned Cakes-By-Design, co-owned The Flower Shop, and owned her own Janitorial Business.  Cindi's favorite hobbies were spending time with her children, grandchildren, roller skating, crafting, shopping, sewing, and as many of you know moving (she liked to keep the mailman guessing)!  Cindi was never a fan of cooking and she preferred to drive through, carry out, or have it delivered.

Cindi is survived by her three children; Melissa (Tom) Cook of Carthage, Dawn (Chad) Enzeroth of Warsaw, and Courtney (Adam) Lang of Navarre, Florida; grandchildren, Brett (Megan Brink) Cook, Bryce (Megan Doyle) Cook, Nicholas Hellyer, Natalie Hellyer, Shayna (Brock Hartweg) Harris, Wyatt Enzeroth, Conor Kiley, Ryann Lang, Logan Lang and Aaron Lang; great grandchildren, Harrison Brink, Theodore Brink, Trace Harris and Charlotte Hartweg; and a sister, Bonnie Bentzinger, her cat Lilly, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cindi is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday morning, February 28, 2022 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.  Memorials may be directed to the Amputee Coalition.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of the arrangements
