Helen Elizabeth Harness, 96, formerly of Keokuk, passed away at 10:05 AM, Sunday morning, February 13, 2021, at Cedarhurst Memory Care Center in Quincy, IL.

Helen was born September 12, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Lyda (Fry) Miller in Keokuk.  She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1943.  She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Harness at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma in 1945.  Helen was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Bridge.  She was also active in the community by volunteering at both Graham and St. Joseph’s Hospitals, Birthright, and her churches, St. Mary’s and later, All Saints.

Helen is survived by her children, John R. (Sherry) Harness of Denver, CO, Janet Harness of Denver, CO, and Dr. Jim (Diane) Harness of Quincy; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. Kennith (Brenda) Miller of Spring Green, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Harness; children, Jean K. Harness and Jane E. (Harness) Wilson; and brothers, Jack, Guerdon (Cork), and Steve Miller.

Memorial and graveside services will be held at a later date.  DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home of Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
