Joe E. Massey

Joe E. Massey, 82, of Warsaw, passed away, Monday, January 31, 2022, at his home in Warsaw.

 

Joe was born October 29, 1939, the son of Dewey and R.E. (Lee) Massey in Big Flat, Arkansas.  On February 14, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mary Stutz in Carthage, Illinois.  She preceded him in death in 2017.  Joe worked for Steel Castings in Keokuk for forty-three years.  He then went to work for the Warsaw Water department for nine years.  Joe was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Hamilton.  He was an avid coin collector and metal detector enthusiast.  He was a Chicago Cubs fan and lived to see them win a World Series.  Joe was a well-known fixture at the Casey’s coffee club and a friend to all.

 

Joe is survived by three daughters, Janeen Massey of Hamilton, Jennifer Massey of Warsaw, and Janice (Mike) McColm of Alexandria, Missouri; a sister Carolyn (Russell) Muegge of Hamilton; and a brother-in-law, Jim Kelly of Carthage.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and siblings, Maxine Campbell, Lucille Thomas, Jack Massey, Raymond Massey, Junior Massey, and Jewel Dean Kelly.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw with family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.  A memorial fund has been established.  Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
