Stephanie Jo Watson

Stephanie Jo Watson, 70, of Carthage, passed away at Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage at 4:28 PM.

 

Stephanie was born July 7, 1951, the daughter of Tony Ivan and Dolores Arlene (Joachims) Fetter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She graduated from LaSalle High School in Cedar Rapids and went on to attend Mundelein College in Chicago majoring in Music.    On June 21, 1975, she was united in marriage to John Watson at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evanston, Illinois.  He preceded her in death in 2016.  Stephanie had served as the activities director for the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage for thirty two years and her caring spirit touched many lives while in that role.  She later worked for the Hancock County Treasurer’s Office for several years until her retirement.  Stephanie was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Carthage.  Her ministry of music at the church spanned over fifty years and hundreds of funerals, weddings and special events.  She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Women’s Club.  She loved crafting, the Spoon River Drive and had a passion for gardening.  She enjoyed reading and British television, especially murder mysteries.  She loved travelling with her grandchildren.

 

Stephanie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer “Jennie” (Peter) Fasching of Carthage; grandchildren, Trenton and Cora Hanks and Evie Fasching; siblings, Cynthia (Jim) Kendall of Lisbon, Iowa, Tony (Sheila) Fetter of Ottumwa, Mark (Leanne) Fetter Loves Park, Illinois and Kenton (Diana) Fetter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Sandy Fetter of Fairfax, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and a brother, Greg Fetter.


 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Keokuk National Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.  Memorials may be directed to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Schools or H.U.G.S.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
