Dorotha Lea "Dottie" Hobart

Dorotha Lea “Dottie” Hobart, 95, of Carthage, passed away at 1:45 PM, Friday, November 19, 2021, at Hickory Grove Assisted Living in Carthage.

 

Dottie was born July 18, 1926, the daughter of John Henry and Elizabeth Olive (Trump) Wagner in Donnellson, Iowa.  She attended grade school in Primrose, Iowa and graduated from Donnellson High School in 1943.    On June 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lewis Hobart at the Sante Fe Methodist Church in Fort Madison, Iowa.  He preceded her in death in 2017, after nearly seventy years of marriage.  She and Lewis loved traveling to bluegrass festivals and visiting their children and grandchildren.  Dottie was a member of the Pontoosuc Community Church and had served as a deaconess. 

 

Dottie is survived by two daughters, Debra (Paul) Johnson, of Anamosa, Iowa and Jan Marie Hobart of Jackson, Wyoming; two granddaughters, Beth (Jared) Van Middlesworth and Nora (Bill) Taylor; four great grandchildren, Abbey and Kate Van Middlesworth and Jonah and Lena Taylor; siblings, Cora Pollmeier, Roland Wagner and Larry Wagner.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and three brothers.

 

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
