Allan Brooks Knisley

Allan Brooks Knisley December 31, 1947 – October 17, 2021                 .

 

Allan Brooks Knisley, 73, of Keokuk passed away on October 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Allan was born on December 31, 1947 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Melvin and Laura Jean (Huffman) Knisley. He lived most of his life in Keokuk, Iowa and graduated from Keokuk High School in 1967. He was united in marriage to Cynthia Mahoney on June 24, 1967 in Sandusky, IA, at the Methodist Church. Cynthia, his fun-loving wife of 51 years, preceded him in death in 2018. He was also preceded in death by his stepson Paul Mullins and by his parents.

 

Allan earned an Associates in Applied Science, Electronics Degree, from Southeastern Community College, in Burlington Iowa, in 1969. During his lifetime he served as a Keokuk Police Reserve Officer and as a Deputy Sherriff of Callaway County, Missouri. He was a member of the NRA and earned his pilot’s license. Allan served on the Keokuk City Council and the Keokuk Planning Commission. He received the rank of a Red belt in Taekwondo. He was a Ham radio operator and a self-taught guitarist. Allan, AKA “The Gadget Guy”, could fix most anything. He had many God-given talents; from automotive repair, computer repair, plumbing, to skilled electrician. He was a jack-of-all trades. Allan was very determined and never gave up! His sense of humor kept all who knew him smiling, all the way to the end. 

 

Allan is survived by his joyful wife, Polly Knisley. They were wed and attended church services at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship in Keokuk, Iowa. Allan is also survived by his two loving children and their spouses, Philip Knisley and Darcie, Gina (Knisley) McGinnis and Sean, by five grandchildren, Courtney (Jesse) Moore, Megan (Glenn) White, Connor McGinnis, Stefan (Anna) Knisley, Abby Knisley, by two precious great-grandsons, August Knisley and Asher Moore, and by his faithful lapdog, Rudy. He is also survived by his older brothers and their wives who reside in the Columbus, Ohio area, Karl and Caroline Knisley and Paul and Karen Knisley, his stepdaughters, Rachel Woodworth and Sarah (Joe) Norvell, and numerous step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

DeJong-Greaves & Printy Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship at 1628 Concert St. in Keokuk, Iowa at 5pm on Friday October 22, 2021. Family will be meeting friends from 3 to 5 at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship prior to services. Burial will be held at Hickory Grove funeral at a later time. In lieu of flowers, family request that memorials be made to Lee County Hospice or Anchor of Hope Fellowship. DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home of Keokuk is in charge of arrangements
