WCAZ Obituary News

Sharon K. Koehler

Sharon K. Koehler, 67, of Basco, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Sharon was born June 19, 1954, the daughter of Marvin and Beverly (Brownlee) Schafer in
Carthage, IL. She attended Hamilton High School graduating in 1972 and went on to receive her
Associate’s Degree from Southeastern Community College. On March 30, 1980, she was united
in marriage to Steve Koehler at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ Church near Sutter.
Sharon had worked for Warsaw School district 316 for over 30 years and as a bus driver for over
twenty. She also operated Koehler Livestock and was a member of the Bethlehem United
Church of Christ.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Steve Koehler, of Basco; two children, Shelly (Marc Huls)
Trone of Basco and Ed Trone of Warsaw; one granddaughter, Lakinn Larson; her father, Roger
Brink of Warsaw; siblings, Vickie (Kurt) McInroy of Nauvoo, Marvin “Bryant” Schafer of Keokuk
and Susan (Rex) Doyle of Basco; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sharon was a lover of many things. She loved life and lived it to its fullest. She loved all the
children that she met during her many years of service in the school system and volunteering at
church. She loved to be adventurous; riding her Harley rain or shine, going on trips with her
family or friends, driving her pulling truck down the track full throttle smiling ear to ear. Sharon
loved animals, having many beloved pets through the years. She loved hard work and the
sense of accomplishment that came along with it. Sharon loved to help others, she never met a
stranger and was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never wanting or
expecting anything in return. Most of all, Sharon loved her family. She exemplified the word
family, nothing ever came before her family and loved ones, she made them the center of her
world and always made sure they knew that. Through the years Sharon has touched so many
lives in a special way, her absence will be felt by many and the impact she has had on those
who knew her will last for an eternity.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Printy Funeral
Home in Warsaw with burial to follow in the Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery
Family will meet friends from 9:00 AM until time of services at Noon on Saturday. Memorials
may be directed to the Hearts of Hancock Humane Society or Keokuk Humane Society. Printy
Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
