Sandra "Sandy" Kay Smith

Sandra “Sandy” Kay Smith, 77, of Warsaw, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at her home in Warsaw.

 

Sandy was born on November 9, 1943, in Warsaw, Illinois, the daughter of Chester Addison and Myrtle Marie (Fryer) Ruffcorn. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1962, and on February 21, 1965, she was united in marriage to Ronald “Ron” Kent Smith at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw. He survives.

 

Sandy was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw. She spent her life raising her kids and grandchildren, and always attended their events. Sandy enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo, and gambling occasionally, and always spoke her mind. Her family was always her priority. Sandy was an avid Cardinals fan and she rarely missed a televised game. 

 

Sandy is survived by her husband Ron of Warsaw; three children: Todd Smith, Kelly (Chuck) Nagel, and Tara (Ryan Thompson) Brunenn, all of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Jessica Tzenevrakis of Keokuk, Jordyn Smith of Warsaw, Bailey Nagel of Warsaw, Kendall Nagel of Warsaw and Delaney Brunenn of Warsaw; three great-grandchildren: Jacob and Cassidy Tzenevrakis,  Mackenzie Six, all of Warsaw; her sister Donna (Jim) Harness of Warsaw, Illinois; her brother Carroll (Jo) Ruffcorn of Austin, Texas; and her half-brother Larry Tripp. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters Hazel, Norma, Sue and Virginia; six brothers: Everett, Logan, Wendell, Kenneth, Junior and Melvin; and a daughter-in-law Renee Smith. 

 

Sandy’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at noon on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 am to noon directly before the service.

 

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
