Paul Jacob Mullins

Paul Jacob Mullins, 37, of Keokuk, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, in
Hannibal, Missouri after a short illness.
Paul was born September 14, 1983, the son of Steve and Polly (Huneke) Mullins in
Keokuk, Iowa. He graduated from Carthage High School in 2002 and went on to
receive an associate’s degree from Southeastern Community College for graphics
design in 2005. Having no children of his own, Paul was a cherished uncle to his
nephews and niece. He stood in the gap whenever needed by those around him
as a brother, mentor, best friend, etc. Paul put family first and never missed an
opportunity to spend time with them on vacations or at the family cabin at the
Lake of the Oaks in St. Patrick, Missouri. Paul was a beloved paraprofessional
working with students in the special education and general education classrooms
at the Richardson Elementary School in Ft. Madison, Iowa. Born Paul Jacob
Mullins, but was known by many nicknames over the years, Paully D, Darth Maul,
the Candyman, Mr. Paul Wall, Mr. P Wizzle, and of course he was known to his
mom as P.J. and to the students as Mr. Paul. Paul was an avid PlayStation gamer
and especially enjoyed Borderlands, Diablo 3, and Fortnite. He was also an avid
movie collector and had countless collectible figurines, beanie babies, and
keychains. Paul was very proud of his work in the Jumpstart Program at the Fort
Madison Community School District and was looking forward to continuing this
work in the after school program. Paul had also worked security for over ten
years. He had strong Christian beliefs and his radio was always tuned to KLOVE.
Paul is survived by his mother and stepfather, Polly and Allan Knisley, of Keokuk;
two sisters, Rachel Woodworth of Keokuk and Sarah (Joe) Norvell of Warsaw; four
nephews, Michael and Nathaniel (Caprie) Woodworth of Keokuk and Austin and
Lucas Norvell of Warsaw; one niece Haley Norvell of Warsaw; four great-
nephews Quinton, Mason, Ashton and Bennett, one great-niece Aubree, and
numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Mullins, his cousin Stephanie
Mullins, and his niece, Cassidy Woodworth.
A memorial service will be held at the Fort Madison Middle School in Ft. Madison,
Iowa, at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 28, 2021. Visitation will be held from 5:00 –
8:00 P.M. Friday evening at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home Friday evening.
Memorials may be directed to the Richardson School Special Education
department. DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home of Keokuk is in charge of
arrangements.
