Ruth Ann Johnson

1941 – 2021

 

     Ruth Ann Johnson, 79, of Hamilton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February, 28, 2021 at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.

     Born on April 14, 1941 in Rushville, IL, Ruth was the daughter of Gene and Nedra Shores Lung.  She graduated from Rushville High School.

     On January 6, 1960 Ruth was united in marriage to Bobby Gene Carr. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1998.  On November 23, 2002 Ruth was united in marriage to Leonard W. Johnson. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2019.

     Ruth had been employed at Murphy’s Peoples Store in Warsaw, IL and while working there she obtained the name of  “Aunt Gook”.  She had also been employed at Dadant’s in Hamilton, IL.

     She was a member of the Assembly of God in Warsaw.  Her faith was an active and vital part of her life and her daily Bible reading was a great source of strength.

     Ruth had a big heart and was a friend to many and generous to all.  Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

     She is survived by two sons, Michael (Kathy) Carr of Jefferson City, MO and Kevin (Kimberly) Carr of Warsaw, IL, one step-daughter, Della Suzanne Sutton of Canton, MO, four grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Swisegood of Hamilton, IL, Casey (Heidi) Carr of Keokuk, Logan Carr of Eugene, OR and Lauren Carr of Warsaw, IL, one step-grandson, Sidney (Alison) Sutton of Canton, MO,  one step-granddaughter, Stephanie  (Les) of Canton, MO, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, one very close friend, Doris Grant who loved Ruth’s family very much.

     Ruth was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sharon Beadles, Sue Morrell and Kay Lee and three brothers, Frank Lung, Roy Lung and Ronnie Lung.

     Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Steve Hendricksmeyer officiating.  Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, IL.

     Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am – 11 am at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends at that time.  Masks will be required and social distancing is encouraged.

     Memorials may be made to the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL
