Marie Kerr

Marie Kerr, 91, of Warsaw, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

Marie was born on November 18, 1929, in Weleetka, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Marshall and Jane (Beavers) Kirk. On August 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Kerr, Sr., at the First Christian Church in Vinita, Oklahoma. He survives.

Marie was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Warsaw, and taught 4th and 5th grades at the Warsaw Elementary School for twenty years until her retirement. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was a talented seamstress and cook, keeping her family clothed and well-fed. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, taking trips around the country and Europe. Most of all, she loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter with all of her heart.

Marie is survived by her husband Robert L. Kerr, Sr., of Warsaw; her son Robert L. (Susan) Kerr, Jr., of Warsaw; her daughter Melody (Stan) Carr of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Robbie Kerr of Warsaw, Ryan (Katy) Kerr of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lauren Kerr of Lakewood, Colorado, Doug Carr of Warsaw and William Carr of Evergreen, Colorado; and her great-granddaughter Blakely Carr of Evergreen, Colorado. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother George Marshall Kirk, Jr.

Marie’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 11 am on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 to 11 am on Friday, with family meeting friends from 10 to 11 am. For the safety of those attending, masks and social distancing are required. For those unable to attend, the funeral service will be available for livestreaming on Facebook Live at the Printy Funeral Home Facebook page.

Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the First United Presbyterian Church in Warsaw, or Parkview Bible Church in Hamilton.
