Clyde Arthur Mulch

Clyde Arthur Mulch, 89, of Sutter, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

 Clyde Arthur Mulch, “Doc”, was the youngest son of Arthur “Art” Mulch and Freida Mulch of Sutter, Illinois.  He was born July 19, 1931 and grew up on a dairy and grain farm in rural Sutter, Illinois.  Clyde served in the Korean War and upon his return, he married the love of his life, Anita Lois Foley of Warsaw, Illinois and was married April 23, 1955, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Warsaw, Illinois.  Clyde worked for Whitehall Oil Company in Sutter, Illinois and eventually Moorman Manufacturing in Quincy, Illinois where he was employed until his retirement in 1993. Clyde also served as the tax assessor for local townships in the Sutter, Illinois area and served on the Dallas Rural Water District Board.  He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter, Illinois and served as the Sunday school treasurer for a number of years. Clyde returned to the workforce in his late 60’s and worked as a custodian/maintenance employee for the Warsaw School District in Warsaw, Illinois for an additional 9 years.  While employed by the Warsaw school district, Clyde assisted with coaching the girls’ softball team which he enjoyed tremendously.

His hobbies included watching sports, attending sprint car races, listening to country music, square dancing with his wife, camping, and spending time with his family.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Freida Mulch; father, “Art” Mulch; brother Kenny Mulch; mother-in-law Dorothy Foley; father-in-law, Merle Foley; and brother-in-law, Merle Foley Jr.  He is survived by his wife, Anita Mulch, of Quincy, Illinois; son, Kim Mulch (Valerie) of Pella, Iowa; and daughter, Lisa Starr of Quincy, Illinois.  Grandchildren include Amanda Mulch (Brandon Edwards) of Carbondale, Illinois; Derek (Sara) Mulch, of Wimberly, Texas; Nathan Starr of Manhattan, New York; Amy (James) Wallace of Quincy, Illinois; Heather (Adam) Spory of Quincy, Illinois; and Breann (Harold) Esindu of Quincy, Illinois.  Great grandchildren include Emily Edwards, Clayton Edwards, Gracy Spory, Alex Spory, Paige Wallace, and Ava Esindu.

Private services will be held at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter, Illinois, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
