Donald Eugene Campbell

Donald Eugene Campbell, 84, of Carthage, passed away at 2:13 AM early Monday morning, January 4, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

 

Don was born April 15, 1936, the son of James Warren “J.W.” and Frances Marie (Miller) Campbell in Hillview, Illinois.  He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1954.  On May 12, 1957 he was united in marriage to Clara “Cozy” Cozette Moore in Petersburg, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on February 12, 1990.  On March 30, 1995, he was united in marriage to Joanne Tyler in Quincy.  She preceded him in death October 20, 2018.  Donald had worked for CIPS for over 42 years retiring in 1997.  He had served as a volunteer fireman on the Carthage Clipper Fire Department and was a member of the First Christian Church in Ferris.  He was also a member of the Model T Society and Association.

 

Don is survived by his children, Greg (Susan) Campbell of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Gary Campbell of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Mary (Dave) Kelly of Boulder, Colorado and Donnie D. Campbell of Boulder, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Peter) Strutton, Adam (Faith) Kelly, Zachary (Jenna) Kelly, Josua Campbell, Briana Campbell, James Tyler Smith, Jessica Ann (Luke) Gidcumb and Tiffany Ann (Philip) Riegert; ten great grandchildren, Elsie Ann Gidcumb, Jack Tyler Smith, Beau Kingsman Smith, Evelyn Strutton, Abigail Strutton, Alexander Strutton, Adalyn Kelly, Hudson Kelly, Winston Kelly and Daclan Kelly; siblings, Mary Roodhouse of Greenville, Illinois, Jim (Lynn) Campbell of St. Louis, Missouri, Peggy Post of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Bob (Sherry) Campbell of Salem, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara; wife, Joanne; a daughter-in-law, Cinda Campbell; and two brothers, Kenneth Campbell and Samuel Campbell.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 11, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements
