James S. "Bud" Bisby

James S. “Bud” Bisby, 93, of Burnside, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, December
1, 2020, at 2:50 A.M.
James was born December 21, 1926 to Everett and Mae (Howd) Bisby in Macomb, Illinois. He
graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1944, and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during
1945 until the end of WWII. He married Eloise Derry on October 11, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa.
James is survived by his wife, Eloise, of Burnside; four sons, Roger (Karen) Bisby of Carthage,
Rodney (Carolyn) Bisby of Newman, Illinois, Greg (Bonnie) Bisby of Carthage, Illinois and Jeffrey
Bisby of Burnside, Illinois; one daughter, Rachel (Gary) Sutton of Macomb; eight grandchildren;
and sixteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are Bonnie’s daughters and families; and one
niece and one nephew.
James was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Harriet Green; a daughter-in-law, Linda
David Bisby; one niece; and one step-grandson.
James was a life-long farmer in the Burnside area and clerked for many area livestock sale
facilities for years. He was a lifelong member of multiple service organizations. A highlight was
his Honor Flight to Washington, DC in 2015 with his grandson, Matt Sutton. He was an avid
card player and also enjoyed attending NASCAR races and sporting events, especially those
involving his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Moss Ridge Cemetery
in Carthage with military rites rendered by the U. S. Army Honor Guard and the Hancock County
Honor Guard. The family will not be present but friends may stop by Printy Funeral Home in
Carthage from 9:00 AM until 11:00 Friday morning for service folders and sign the register
book. Memorials may be made to the Quincy/Hannibal Honor Flight or Amputee Blade
Runners, 356 24th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37203, a non-profit organization that helps provide free
running prosthetics for amputees, in honor of his great granddaughter Addalyn Worster. Printy
Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
