James C. Ludwig

1936 – 2020

 

     James C. Ludwig, 84, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his home. 

     He was born March 16, 1936 in LaGrange, MO, the son of James Christopher and Bonnie Violet Logan Ludwig.   He graduated from LaGrange High School with the Class of 1954.   On May 19, 1956, James was united in marriage to Annette Emry at the LaGrange Christian Church.  She survives.

     He is also survived by two sons, Daniel L. Ludwig (Jean) and Gregory L. Ludwig (Cathy) all of Keokuk, three grandchildren, Eric Robert Ludwig (Lauren) of Shreveport, LA, Jamie Lynn Morris (Jason)  of Quincy, IL and Nathan James Ludwig (Kim) of Keokuk, four great-grandchildren, Patrick Ludwig of Shreveport, LA, Weston Morris of Quincy, IL,  Ava Ludwig and Madelyn Ludwig both of Keokuk, one step-great-grandson, Garrett Morris of Quincy, two sisters, Jane Martin (Don) of Danville, IL and Connie Otto of Quincy, one brother, Lyle Ludwig (Nora) of Canton, MO, one sister-in-law, Geneva Ludwig of LaGrange,  and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Harold, Keith, Rodney and Dennis Ludwig. 

    James was a veteran of the United States Army.

    He was the owner of Gem City Storage and Transfer, Inc in Keokuk.

    James was a member of the First Christian Church in LaGrange.  He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Past Master.  He was also a member of the Commandery, Knights Templar and KAABA Shrine.

     He enjoyed auto racing, fishing, hunting, camping and cooking.

     Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.  Burial with Military Rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends from 4 – 6 p.m.  A Masonic memorial service will be held at 6 p.m.

      Social distancing requirements will be in place and attendees may be limited according to those requirements. Masks are strongly encouraged.
