Richard “Dick” Housewright, 80, of Burlington, IA passed away at 9:34am Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.
He was born April 30, 1939 in Burnside, IL, the son of M.O. and Madge Dunn Housewright. On July 12, 1959 he married Judy Quivey in LaHarpe, IL. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2016.
Dick lived in LaHarpe for many years, moving to Florida 35 years ago. While living in LaHarpe he worked in his family’s business, Housewright Soil Service. In Florida he worked as a commercial fisherman and as a teacher’s aid, retiring 2 years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
He is survived by one daughter, Kelly (Dennis Ertz) Gustafson of Burlington, IA, one grandson, Jeremy (Millie) Berlet of Seattle, WA, one brother, Don Housewright of Carthage, IL and one sister, Carolyn Wheelock of Quincy, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, Kristen Lynn Housewright and his parents.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in LaHarpe Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. A memorial fund has been established for the Great River Hospice House.
