Barbara Ann Walker, 83, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 4:05 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Barbara was born on October 26, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel Newton and Marie Pat (Hartnett) Gillett. On August 31, 1973 she married Ronnie L. Walker. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2008.

Barbara was a graduate of LaHarpe High School. She was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion Auxiliary and the J.O. Club. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and playing cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawn (Tom) Todd of LaHarpe; three sons, Chris Carey of LaHarpe, Robbie (Amber) Walker of Dallas City and Ryan Walker of LaHarpe; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two brothers, Sam “Newt” (Jean) Gillett of Carthage, Illinois and Jim (Mary) Gillett of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Diane Carey and one son, Kelly Carey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with her grandsons’ Tyler and Nate Todd officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in McConnell Cemetery, near Ft. Green, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service at The Annex.
