Thomas Donald Landis

Thomas Donald Landis, 79, of Warsaw, passed away at 9:05 P.M. Sunday evening, December
29, 2019, at his home.
Thomas was born April 19, 1940, the son of Milan and Mary (nee Falvey) Landis in Albia, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to C. Diane Thompson on November 27, 1968. He was preceded in
death by his parents; wife, Diane; and a son, Michael David Landis in infancy.
Thomas is survived by his partner, Priscilla Blecha, of Warsaw; two sons, Joseph Patrick Landis
and his wife Corine (nee Bopp) Landis, of Warsaw and Michael Jeffrey Landis and his wife, Julie
(nee Jaskie) Landis, of Yorkville, Illinois; step-daughter, SuSana Blecha of Altoona, Wisconsin;
grandchildren, Jenny and Ethan Landis of Warsaw; a sister, Patty (Jim) Starcevich, their
daughters Linda and Kathy and their families, and a dear sister-in-law, Sue (Don) Koehler of
Sutter and their families.
Tom attended Centerville Community College receiving his Associate’s Degree and then went
on to attain his Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri State Teacher’s College in Kirksville, Missouri.
He received his Masters in Education in History and Counseling with his thesis being the
“History of Monroe County, Iowa”. He was a professor (Emeritus) and counselor at
Southeastern Community College from 1966 to 2002. During this time, he coached the golf
team for twenty-five years.
Tom loved sports and was dedicated to the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. He was an
avid golfer and a member of Deer Run Golf Course in Hamilton since the early 1970’s. His best
moments on the golf course include three hole-in-ones and the life-long relationships he found
while out on the links. During his younger years, Tom was an excellent bowler earning many
accolades and trophies. He excelled playing basketball in both high school and college. Tom
helped establish Little League in Warsaw, spending countless hours coaching and inspiring the
many teams he knew and loved. Additionally, Tom was an Eagle Scout and had served as a
Scoutmaster. Outside of sports, Tom was a zealous reader and his home library exceeded 1000
books.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening, January 2nd, 2020 at Printy
Funeral Home in Warsaw with family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M; Funeral services
will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw with
burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Warsaw. Memorials may be directed to Deer Run
Golf Course in Hamilton or the Warsaw Public Library. Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in
charge of arrangements.
