Gerald Henry Hackemack, 86, of Sutter, passed away early Friday morning, April 7,
2023, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.
Gerald was born October 29, 1936, the son of Martin and Dorothy Mamie
(Dowdall) Hackemack in Quincy. He graduated from Warsaw High School and
then went on to attend Wentworth Military Academy. He served in the United
States Army from 1960 until his Honorable Discharge in 1963 as an E-6 Staff
Sargent. Gerald qualified as a Sharpshooter with the M-1 Combine rifle during his
service time. In 1965 he was united in marriage to Glenadyne Hackemack Piercy
and together they had three children, Gerald, Glenda and Gaylen. He was later
married to Donna Jones Pyor. Gerald spent part of his life working on the family
farm and dairy farm and finished his career driving a semi-truck. Gerald enjoyed
volunteering at Blessing Hospital and the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy and
was an active member at Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy. He also
enjoyed photography.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Donna Pryor Hackemack of Washinton DC area;
children, Gerald (Lisa) Hackemack of Lake of the Hills, Illinois, Glenda (Lyndle)
Hackemack Wedding of Quincy, and Gaylen (Amie) Hackemack of Wake Forest,
NC; stepchildren, Craig Pryor and Cammie Pryor Luke of the Washington DC area;
grandchildren, Ashley and Jay Swingel, Amber Clark, and Luke, Josey, Hayden and
Grant Hackemack; step grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Pryor; one great
grandchild, Mason Swingel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sylvia Rayburn.
Funeral services will be held at the Sutter Salem Bible Church on Monday, April
10, 2023 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in church cemetery. Visitation will be
held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be
directed to the Sutter Salem Bible Church of Illinois Veteran’s Home. Printy
