David F. Martens, 73, of Colchester, passed away at 11:29 PM Saturday night, November 20, 2021, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
David was born April 9, 1948, the son of Marvin and Marie (Aden) Martens in Keokuk, Iowa. After graduating high school David served in the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. On June 17, 1995, he was united in marriage to Georgia “Gina” Jose in Colchester. She survives. David had worked as a mechanic for NTN Bower in Macomb for many years retiring in 2014. He enjoyed working on farm machinery and being outside. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Basco.
David is survived by his wife, Gina, of Colchester; a brother, Roger (Judy) Martens of Keokuk; a sister, Sharon (Raymond) Stotlar of Weaver, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Florence Martens, Jane Martens and Mary Ann Martens of Carthage; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, James, Gerald and Ronald.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday morning, November 27, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Basco with burial to follow in the church cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
