Thomas Ronald Barnett

Thomas Ronald Barnett, 75, of Warsaw, formerly of Hamilton, passed away at 5:44 P.M. Saturday, December 26, 2020.

 

Thomas was born October 1, 1945 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Ed and Dora Marie (Hess) Barnett.  Graduating from Hamilton High School in 1963 and Gem City College in Quincy where he studied Horology.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hamilton.  He was united in marriage to Janie Nesbit of Warsaw, Illinois on October 19, 1975 at the First Christian Church in Hamilton.  To this union a son, Michael, was born.  Married in 1967 to Kathy Witt, with whom a son, Thomas “Tom” was born.  Later he married Debbie Skinner and they had a son, Marc.  Thomas served in the U. S. Air Force as an Air policeman, employed as a watchmaker, car salesman, manager of Aamco Transmission for over twenty years in Oregon, Nevada, Illinois and Colorado.  He also managed Rent-A-Center in Keokuk, Iowa.  He owned and operated TJ’s House of Music for ten years with his wife Janie.  When he opened TJ’s he vowed never to charge admission bringing live music back to Keokuk every weekend and most Wednesdays.  Thomas helped begin the annual “Musicians Memorial Concert” which honored deceased Tri-State musicians.  He was also a sponsor.  He also loved playing weekly bingo at Hy-Vee for the goodies.  The Denver Broncos was his team!

 

Thomas is survived by his wife, Janie, of Warsaw; three children, Tom (Jennifer) Barnett of Donnellson, IA, Marc Barnett of Oregon and Michael Barnett of Roseville, CA; grandchildren, Zachary, Kenneth, Ethan and Abbie Barnett; three great grandchildren, Aaron and Abe Heins and Waylon Barnett; and a sister, Florence “Betty” Buckert of Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Diane Barnett and Pat Vickers; a brother-in-law, Jerry Nesbit; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, John Herbert Barnett, Donald “Bud” Barnett and Donna Barnett Balmer Metternich; a sister-in-law, Shirley Nesbit Mondon; three nephews, Gerry Barnett, Jeffrey Buckert and Jim Barnett; and a great niece, Somer Barnett.

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton.  Private family services will be held.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with full military rites.  A memorial fund has been established.
